Featured Rescue Dog - Atlas

Name: Atlas

Atlas is our wonderful rescue dog of the week!

 Atlas 1

Breed & Age:

Atlas is a gorgeous mixed breed, with traits indicating he's a Hound Dog mix. As for his age, Atlas is a 1 year old.

Backstory:

The journey of Atlas is both heartwarming and tragic. Unfortunately, we do not know the beginning of Atlas' story. However, we do know Atlas was under the care of struggling animal rescue in Warsaw, IN. The rescue was based out of a trailer home, which doubled as a therapy center.  (Wild, right?) Sadly, this rescue wasn't able to provide adequate care for the animals in their possession, and has since been shut down.

Prior to shut down, Lisa, the President of Housin' Hounds Animal Rescue, visited the rescue, and found multiple animals in a state of neglect. Atlas was then rescued by our dedicated team, along with another dog and two cats. Atlas was given veterinary care, vaccinations, preventative meds, and said goodbye to his "doo-dads" ;). He is now in the care of an INCREDIBLE foster volunteer, who has taught him what it's like to be part of a family. Despite past hardships, Atlas has shown incredible resilience and a loving nature. He is looking for a forever home where he can thrive and receive all the care and affection he truly deserves. He's an athletic, intelligent, and friendly pup who loves to play, run around, and explore. He's an outgoing boy who is good with other dogs and loves making new four-legged friends. His happy-go-lucky demeanour will win you over in an instant. If you're looking for a fun, loving, adventurous, and active companion, Atlas is the one for you!

Special Needs & Requirements:

Atlas is a spirited dog with a zest for life. He is healthy and full of energy. He would do best in an active home. He does great with other dogs and children. He's a little too interested in cats, but with proper introduction and training, he could learn to co-exist with feline friends! To help Atlas:

The Unforgettable Bond: Benjamin's Journey

Watch Benjamin's Transformation: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLq1Esk5/

Meet Benjamin, a resilient pup who captured the hearts of many with his charming personality. Benjamin's adoption journey began when he was rescued from a puppy mill. He was scared, timid, and untrusting of humans. He was never given a name. He was kept in a kennel, away from other dogs and people, never knowing a life outside of breeding.

Despite his past challenges, Benjamin's transformation was inspiring. Housin' Hounds Animal Rescue gave him the time and patience he needed to decompress. With the time, love, and care from Housin' Hounds Animal Rescue, he gained confidence, overcame his fears, and blossomed into a vibrant and playful companion. He was adopted by a loving family, and gained two human siblings! His journey is a testament to the unconditional love rescue dogs bring into our lives.

Ways to Support the Rescue Dog Community

Volunteering

Volunteering is a crucial way to support rescue dog organizations. By offering your time, you can help care for dogs, assist in adoption events, or even provide administrative support. Volunteering opportunities can vary from walking dogs, cleaning facilities, to organizing fundraising events.

Donating

Donating is another impactful way to contribute to rescue dog organizations. Your financial support can help cover medical expenses, food, shelter, and other essential needs for the dogs. Consider setting up monthly donations or contributing towards specific campaigns to make a lasting impact.

Fostering

Fostering is a rewarding way to support rescue dog organizations by providing temporary homes for dogs in need. By fostering, you help dogs transition from shelters to loving environments, making them more adoptable. It's a hands-on way to directly impact a dog's life and prepare them for their forever home.

Spreading Awareness

Spreading awareness about rescue dog adoption events and initiatives is crucial in increasing visibility and encouraging more people to adopt. You can share social media posts, organize awareness campaigns, or collaborate with local businesses to promote adoption drives. Every share and conversation can potentially lead to a dog finding their forever home.

Participating in Fundraising Events

Participating in fundraising events organized by rescue dog organizations is another impactful way to show your support. Whether it's a charity run, a gala dinner, or an online auction, contributing to fundraising efforts helps generate resources needed to rescue, care for, and rehome dogs in need.

Educating Others

Education plays a key role in supporting the rescue dog community. By educating others about responsible pet ownership, the importance of adoption, and the realities of shelter dogs, you help create a more informed and compassionate society that values and cares for all animals.

Supporting Adoption Campaigns

Supporting adoption campaigns by sharing success stories, advocating for adoption over buying from breeders, and dispelling myths about rescue dogs can significantly impact the number of dogs finding loving homes. Your voice and actions can inspire others to consider adoption as the first choice when adding a new furry member to their family.
